I Finished Ted Lasso... Now What Should I Watch on AppleTV?

I see a post like this on social media almost daily so I figured I should just write up my own recommendation list for AppleTV shows and link to it rather than retyping it out each time someone asks.

Please hit me in the comments below if there's a series or movie on AppleTV I've forgotten to mention that you love. My main purpose in writing this list is that AppleTV shows seem to fly under the radar for some reason, but I think I could ditch all the other streaming services and be just fine with AppleTV shows at this point. (My family disagrees so... here we are.)

AppleTV Series I'd Recommend:

First off, here's the series I've watched and have no problem recommending almost without regard for genre. AppleTV tv shows are really that good.

• Bad Sisters
  • Currently 2 seasons, 18 episodes. A dark comedy + mystery that's super fun.
• Dark Matter
  • Currently 2 seasons, 19 episodes (season 2 just came out). Science fiction mystery that makes your brain work just enough to keep up.
• Down Cemetery Road
  • Currently 1 season, 8 episodes. Season 2 has been announced. British political thriller at a local level.
• For All Mankind
  • 5 seasons, 50 episodes. Alternate timeline view of the American / Russian space race that's more fun than you might expect if you're normally turned off by space + science fiction.
• Hijack
  • 2 seasons, 15 episodes. Politics and terrorism plots. Sometimes has you shaking your head at character choices for the sake of plot.
• Loot
  • 3 seasons, 30 episodes. Comedy starring Maya Rudolph playing a billionaire going through an existential mid-life crisis. We've only watched the first season so far.
• Pluribus
  • 1 season, 9 episodes. A second season is coming. Science fiction (sort of) series that plays with your brain. I love it. Depending on how the series goes, it could be one of my favs as well.
• Severance
  • 2 seasons, 19 episodes. If you've heard of Ted Lasso, you've surely heard of the other major series AppleTV has been promoting. Science fiction thriller that bends your brain in a really fun way.
• Shrinking
  • 3 seasons, 33 episodes. Harrison Ford and Jason Segal star alongside a great cast about a therapist office. Had me laughing and crying in the same episode.
• Silo
  • 4 seasons, 40 episodes. 1 more season to go. Post apocalyptic series based on a great series of books. I talked about it in ep #278 of my podcast. It's been accused of going too slowly in parts, but the payoff at the end of each story arc or season is really worth it in my opinion.
• Slow Horses
  • 6 seasons, 36 episodes. Another series based on a set of novels. I think Slow Horses might be my favourite series of all of them, it's that good. I also went in with low expectations because of the frumpy, disheveled Gary Oldman I saw in all the thumbnails. (He's even worse in the show. It's great.) Just watch it. Trust me.
• Ted Lasso
  • 4 seasons, 44 episodes. (Season 4 is currently airing.) You've already watched it, right? That's why we're here. Next to Slow Horses, my other favourite show. Period. Cue House of Pain.
• The Morning Show
  • 4 seasons, 40 episodes. A comedy / drama showing the staff behind a network broadcast morning show. It's one that came out before 2020 so you get to, for better or worse, watch it grapple with COVID as a topic as well as other cultural touch points that are brought in from the real world.
• The Studio
  • 1 season, 10 episodes. Season 2 is currently being produced. Comedy about a movie production studio, that satirizes movie production studios. So many clever production elements, inside jokes, and an eclectic cast of side characters and extras including one of the last (?) performances of Catherine O'Hara.
• Widow's Bay
  • 1 season, 10 episodes. A second season has been announced. A comedy horror series that defies genres. Up there with Ted Lasso and Slow Horses as one of my favourite series, period. There are couple of really scary jump scare type moments in the show — but don't let that turn you off from watching it. It's so smart, funny, and brilliantly written. And a full cast with incredible performances from top to bottom. I can't wait to re-watch over Halloween this year. And next year.
• Your Friends and Neighbors
  • 2 seasons, 19 episodes. A third season has been announced. Dark comedy / drama about a family and their friends grappling with murder, death, and financial insecurity in the super wealthy. Jon Hamm is a modern version of his Don Draper character from Mad Men, albeit with a bit more heart. And it's a lot of fun.

AppleTV series on my watch list:

These I haven't seen yet—as of this writing in September, 2026. But I've heard great things.

• Murderbot - Based on a book series I have read. Looking forward to it.
• Maximum Pleasure Guaranteed - Starring Tatiana Maslany so regardless of anything else, it will be good.
• Star City - A spin-off of For All Mankind that I've heard is excellent, despite looking even less interesting to my eyes.
• Cape Fear - I'm not 100% on this one as it looks like it should be good, but I haven't heard as many great things about it.
• Sugar - Colin Farrell stars as a detective in Los Angeles. Sounds good to me.
• Monarch: Legacy of Monsters - I really want to dig in to the Monsterverse one of these days. Only so much time in the day.

AppleTV Movies Watched List:

AppleTV has a lot of misses and only a few hits in the movie department so... watcher beware? I was surprised to see how many movies there actually are on AppleTV.

These are ones I've watched and enjoy:

• Wolfwalkers - animated story that's good for the heart.
• Beastie Boys Story - The Beastie Boys story told in their own words.
• Bono: Stories of Surrender - Bono's story told in his own words. Not as good as what I heard the actual live stage production of this was like, but for U2 fans like me who couldn't get to a performance, it'll have to do.
• Come From Away - A musical story of the people of Gander, Newfoundland, where on 9/11 they took care of stranded Americans who weren't allowed to go home. A reminder of a time when American / Canadian relations weren't being ripped apart by a giant man baby in power in the United States.
• Killers of the Flower Moon - A drama from Martin Scorsese starring Leonard DiCaprio, Lily Gladstone, Robert De Niro, and more.
• Spirited - Another musical of sorts, this time featuring Ryan Reynolds and Will Ferrell doing a variation of A Christmas Carol. One that we re-watch every Christmas holidays.
• Tetris - A biographical thriller based around the creation of Tetris in the late 1980's.
• The Beanie Bubble - Comedy / drama telling the story of, you guessed it, the creation of the Beanie Babies. Zach Galifianakis and Elizabeth Banks are hilarious.
• The Family Plan - Comedy starring Mark Wahlberg. It's not going to challenge your brain, but it's fun enough to watch while eating a giant bowl of popcorn with your family. The Family Plan 2 (more planning?) is out now. I'm sure we'll watch it eventually.

I'm sure I'm missing some. For example, I was about to publish this post and realized I hadn't mentioned Pluribus which just came out this year! So many good shows and movies. There's a Bruce Springsteen documentary on there. A Michael J. Fox one as well.
