Threads "Share as Image" Feature

I love / hate this. I think it's brilliant to build this kind of feature into a web app, but also hate how it makes for everyone sharing images of text instead of just a link to the original post the way the internet is supposed to work. (URLs be praised!)

By including the option to format it square or as an Instagram post, they're clearly spelling out where they hope you'll post this.

Social media has gone from sharing everywhere to walling up the garden to back to the open web. I don't trust that once Threads figures out a monetization strategy, they'll close it all back up again.
