Congratulations on 12 Years of Ghost
I continue to be happy with the switch I made from WordPress to Ghost as my blog's home base
John O'Nolan on Ghost's 12 year anniversary:
Last week marked 12 years since the launch of Ghost on Kickstarter. I was 24 when I first started working on the idea, and back then I had no idea what I was doing.
Fast forward to 2025 and I still have no idea what I'm doing, but we've come a long way nevertheless. What started as little more than an idealistic open source pipedream has blossomed into a business with $8M/year in annual recurring revenue and a full-time team of 34.
I remember when Ghost was launched and thinking that it was a good to have something to compete with WordPress in the website and blogging space, but honestly I didn't think it would last if it was just "not WordPress". I'm glad to see Ghost has come in to it's own and forged it's own path that isn't reactionary to whatever WordPress or other platforms are doing.
I continue to be happy with the switch I made from WordPress to Ghost as my blog's home base and would heartily recommend it if you just want to be able to write without worrying about plugins, configuration files, and have the flexibility to use an email newsletter platform built right into your blog.
